When DTG fits
DTG can support photographic detail, gradients and many colours without a screen for every colour. It can be practical for samples, short runs and frequent design variation.
Results depend on preparation, ink, curing and fabric. Dark garments normally need pretreatment and a white underbase. Approve the actual garment because surface and colour affect appearance.
When screen printing fits
Screen printing is effective for bold graphics, spot colours and repeated quantities. Setup takes more work, but becomes efficient as the design repeats.
Ink type, mesh, underbase, colour sequence and curing influence opacity and hand feel. Puff, discharge and other effects need compatible fabric and testing.
Approve measurable quality
Supply vector or high-resolution artwork, colour direction, print dimensions and placement measurements. Approve registration, opacity, edge quality and hand feel under representative lighting.
Wash testing should use the intended garment and care instruction. Neither printing method compensates for unsuitable fabric or incorrect curing.
Compare total production logic
Include sample setup, rejects, colour changes, schedule, handling and repeat consistency—not only print charge. A brand may validate with DTG then scale with screens, but it must reapprove colour after switching.
